Chocolate Tahini Brownie
The thing happened where I ate something and realized too late that I didn’t take a picture of it. (Hence the shitty pic posted with this.) Ayat, a new Palestinian restaurant opened up near me and I finally went there last week for the first time. The whole meal was incredible. I split a few dishes: beitenjan (fried eggplant) and maklouba (roast chicken with a mix of rice and veggies), among other things. But at the end of the night, when I thought I was too stuffed to eat any more, my friend asked if we would split the brownie with her. Well, if we’re splitting it….
Oh my god, I’m so glad she suggested this. That brownie was insane. So moist and topped with a scoop of what I think might have been tahini ice cream, but it wasn’t quite ice cream texture, it felt more marshmallow-y. Whatever it was, that tan blob on top of the brownie was unbelievable. It was the perfect complement to the brownie and the whole dish was just outstanding. And I’m not even that big a fan of brownies to begin with. I’m not kidding you when I say that I’ve been thinking about this brownie every day for the last five days.
