ABOUT ME
MY STORY
Whether I’m discovering a story within the pages of a book or hearing one unfold through my headphones, I’m in love with great storytelling. I’ve worked in both book publishing and the audio industry for twenty years and have a wealth of knowledge about all aspects of both businesses. My first job out of college was working as the assistant to the Managing Editor at St. Martin’s Press. It was there where I honed my proofreading and copyediting skills, learned how to create production schedules, and worked with editors and authors to keep things running on schedule.
From there, I knew I wanted to work more directly with authors, so in 2013 I went to Flatiron Books to become a book editor and to help launch what was then a brand-new imprint. It was so exciting to be a part of a start-up and to help grow a fledgling catalog of books. At Flatiron, I wore two hats. As a Senior Associate Editor I was acquiring and editing projects that ranged from memoir, biography, and history to music, popular science, and humor. Some of the books I edited went on to become New York Times bestsellers (The First Conspiracy by Brad Meltzer and Josh Mensch and Big Data Baseball by Travis Sawchik), Amazon Best Books of the Month (Sigh, Gone by Phuc Tran), and Alex Award winners (A Hope More Powerful than the Sea by Melissa Fleming). And as the Publishing Manager for Flatiron I strategized with our sales, production, publicity, and marketing departments to make sure that our team of editors was doing everything it could to set a title up for a successful launch.
As the years went on I started to listen to more and more podcasts. I began with the classics. Things like Radiolab, Mystery Show, Code Switch, and Missing Richard Simmons. Through these podcasts I fell head over heels in love with audio storytelling and was lucky enough to land a job at Macmillan Podcasts in 2019 where I managed their network of shows and worked on the Ambie Award-winning history podcast Driving the Green Book, along with a range of other productions on literature, pop culture, biography, and true crime.
Then in 2020 I moved over to Pushkin Industries to help launch their audiobooks department. As the Senior Managing Editor I collaborated with teams of audio producers, editors, and engineers to create immersive, sound-rich, and award-winning audiobooks including Miracle and Wonder: Conversations with Paul Simon by Malcolm Gladwell and Bruce Headlam, Wild and Precious: A Celebration of Mary Oliver, Heartbreak: A Personal and Scientific Journey by Florence Williams, and So Many Steves by Steve Martin and Adam Gopnik.
I use this wealth of experience and knowledge to bring the utmost care and compassion to helping writers tell their stories. I’d love to roll up my sleeves, dig into your manuscript, and collaborate with you!
