Peanut Cheesecake

We celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary by going on a little weekend getaway upstate. It rained for most of the weekend, but we were staying in a super cozy place with a view of the Hudson and a little porch, so we spent a lot of time looking at the river and the changing leaves and relaxing.

The most exciting thing we did was have dinner at The Bocuse at the Culinary Institute of America. I inhaled the best dish I had (which is why I sadly did not post it here): a duck and chicken liver mousse topped with a prune compote, the teeniest frisée salad I’ve ever seen, and some toast points. The entire meal was so incredible and we were charmed by the sweet, yet slightly awkward students serving us that we went back the next day for lunch at a different restaurant that doesn’t require reservations on the CIA campus: The Tavern at American Bounty. This is where I had this here peanut cheesecake. If I remember correctly the cheesecake was topped with a mulled wine jelly layer, wisps of toasted brioche, tiny cross-sections of grapes, and a concord grape sorbet on the side. It was divine.
