Tapestry no. 6

I’ve been spending a lot more time in museums lately, which I highly recommend for anyone who has the time. I went to the MoMA early for the first time in my life and was treated to a much less chaotic scene than I’m used to in that place. I went primarily to check out the Ed Ruscha exhibit, which was fantastic, but meandering around afterwards I saw this beautiful tapestry from Yente on the 4th floor. (I told you, I’m a sucker for textile arts!)

Canvas stained with paint, and then the stains are covered with embroidery thread? Yes. This is my shit. It’s beautiful and bold and I could stare at it close up forever.
