Vegas Sunset

I just spent the last week in Las Vegas visiting my parents. One thing that drives me nuts about that place is that the casinos that are inspired by real places — The Venetian, Paris, and New York New York — all have their ceilings painted to look like the sky. There’s no bigger reminder that I am definitely not in Venice, Paris, or New York City than looking up at the ceiling and seeing painted clouds. On top of that, once you can see past all the flashing lights of the Strip, you quickly realize that the area surrounding Las Vegas is actually quite beautiful with Red Rock Canyon, views of snowy-peaked Mount Charleston, and truly stunning sunsets. There’s something about the mountains that make the sunsets out there feel more majestic.

Anyways, if you’re ever in Las Vegas, I beg you: find a way to get off the Strip and into nature. It’s worth it. Also, I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again: play Bingo. It’s the best bang for your buck and it usually comes with free drinks!
