Gaudi
The last time I was in Spain it was 2003 and I wasn’t able to get into the Sagrada Familia. If memory serves, I think it was closed. But it’s also possible that I didn’t have enough money for a ticket because my Barcelona trip was at the very end of my stay in Europe and I was almost completely out of money. Anyways, getting to the Sagrada Familia was a MUST this time around. And, of course, we had to stop by Casa Batlló. Gaudi’s architecture is breathtaking and feels like it defies logic when you see it in person. I fell in love with the watercolor-like mosaic on the facade of Casa Batlló and was absolutely stunned once we set foot inside the Sagrada Familia. We entered the cathedral around 2:30 in the afternoon with the sun already low in the sky. It was blazing through the orange-yellow windows with the colors reflecting around the cathedral in the most gorgeous way. You can almost forget about the insane crowds there for a few brief moments when you first enter because you’re so taken aback. These pictures don’t do these places any justice, so you have to go and see it for yourself.
